ALARP Solutions has extensive experience applying risk management and systems safety engineering to decommissioning & abandonment of production assets above and below the water. Coupled is support to offshore marine projects within drilling, new production asset construction, modification & subsea infrastructure development.
We are now bringing our unique approach of facility lifecycle risk-based asset management to the Oil & Gas industry and emerging energy sectors. This hybrid philosophy draws on our broad portfolio of experience in the defence and nuclear sectors both within Australia and worldwide. This has led us to develop bespoke products to facilitate what we want to achieve, examples being the ASCE tool for CAE-type Safety Case development and the EGRAM governance and assurance tool designed to simplify assurance within complex organisations. Not only do we perform these services but we also train client organisations to take on our approach to promote continual improvement and demonstrate risk elimination or reduction so far as reasonably practicable (SFARP)

System Engineering Support for Energy and Resources
This will involve a number of tasks, including: Maintenance management strategy evaluation and optimisation; Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) optimisation; Equipment obsolescence management advisory; Assessing system performance to ensure Control Health Management; Assessing effective of the Management of Change processes for maintenance management focusing on cumulative risk evaluation from continual MOC overlay; Trouble-shooting and Improvement of performance of specific marine equipment; Working with Classification societies to prepare assets to meet class and statutory requirements; Assisting asset operators to address findings and shortcomings identified during class survey or Port/flag state inspections; and,
Optimisation of maintenance system build and execution.
Performance Standard Development, Independent Verification & Audit
Developing and updating performance standards to match Safety Case evolution. Verification of performance standard implementation to optimise effectiveness and compliance. Development of Fit-For-Purpose maintenance and inspection activities to meet performance criteria.
Asset Decommissioning
Development of Concept & Detailed Decommissioning & Abandonment Safety Cases to transition an asset from a high availability operational profile to a targeted system support approach to allow for a safe and cost-effective asset retirement. Supporting technical safety studies to support optioneering, SFARP decision-making and HSE Plan development. Assessment of opportunities to recycle an asset vs disposal. Development of a phased plan for asset disposal and/or preservation to meet regulatory requirements or demonstration of sound governance to industry and community stakeholders.
Asset Safety Case Development, Review/Update & Addendum preparation
Baseline risk review to inform FEED and Concept Selection at project inception. Development of Safety Case framework and Major Adverse or Accident Event (MAE) evolution. Formal Safety Assessment development and update related workshop facilitation. HAZID/HAZOP/LOPA process facilitation to support Safety Case review or Addendum preparation.
Safety and Quality Management System Review & Audit
Review and Optimisation of Safety and Quality Management system (SMS/QMS) frameworks and assistance with Internal auditing or preparation for external auditing of SMS/QMS. Advice on system build to meet or emulate ISO 9001/18001 requirements. Assistance with Supplier Auditing and Pre-qualification. Training Programs for your organisation to bring management systems to life to promote awareness of procedural requirements.
